2012 Here we come!

As previously mentioned, WSR was invited by the Coffs Coast Derby Dolls to travel up to their home ground to play against Brisbane City. The bout was a hard one for our girls, with Brisbane City coming up the victors in a seriously competitive bout.  Thank you to the fans that travelled up to support us at the event & to CCRD for their wonderful hospitality.

As our league has grown, unfortunately we are also seeing some of our founding members & Boutlaws leaving WSR to further their opportunities with other leagues. Rosa Sass’n has moved away from the comfort of Western Sydney up to the coastal views of Newcastle, where she’ll be joining Newcastle Roller Derby League in their 2012 season. We are also sad to see Peggy Spew, Max Manic, Betty B Prayin’ & Tail-her Swift all move on to join Sydney Roller Derby League to gain more experience. And finally, a sad goodbye to Funky Cold Adina, who is taking a wee break from derby but whom we hope to tempt back again in the near future.

As 2011 draws to a close, WSR would like to thank all their family, friends & fans for the support that you’ve shown us throughout our second season. We’ve got a lot planned for our 2012, including the introduction of our four intraleague teams, wonderful training opportunities for our current skaters & stay tuned for details on our next skater intake during the year.
